We’re obsessed… with unexpected and impeccable fashion, with thoroughly investigated details and completely libidinous flourishes. And right now, that infatuation is a wholly self-gratifying one, as Sex+Design is so thrilled to introduce Sex+Design Fetish, our soon to be launched foray into retail obsession that will provide daily, exclusive opportunities for Sex+Design members to fetch sophisticated, highly curated and often prurient objects and experiences at impossible price points.
Now we know what you’re thinking when you read the word “fetish,” and truth be told, we’re probably thinking it, too. But Sex+Design Fetish is about the intangible spirit of objects that makes them worshipful and the excessive, maybe irrational commitment to those things we desire. Too heady? It’s about a lust for life and the objects that embody that passion. It’s not easy to delineate, but we think you get the idea… or at least we hope you do, because we are turning to you, our artful, in fashion and in the know following, to help us create the brand identify for Sex+Design Fetish.
Technically, this is a contest, but to us it’s so much more. It’s a design charrette, a conversation (we’ll still give you prizes!). We want to hear from you, to understand how you would visually interpret and distinctly represent both the poised excellence of the objects we’ll be showcasing AND the undefinable magic that makes us completely obsess over and fetishize those objects. It’s hard, we know.
All submissions should be made in the form of a PDF not exceeding 3MB, emailed to neil@sexanddesign.com by 5:00PM (Pacific Standard Time) Friday, December 23, 2011. All brand identity submissions should incorporate the Sex+Design logo provided below. Finalists will be personally selected by Sex+Design Founders and Editorial Staff with heavy consideration given to results of public voting on Facebook. The winner will receive $500 credit at Sex+Design Fetish, as well as an editorial of the design and designer on Sex+Design and our Facebook page, with a following of tens of thousands. Finalists will likewise receive editorials of the design and designer on our site and Facebook. Voting on Facebook ends at 5:00PM (Pacific Standard Time) Friday, December 30, 2011. Winners announced Sunday, January 1, 2012. All work must be original and previously unpublished. All designs (including actual artwork, graphic design or illustrations, as well as design concepts originating) will become the sole property of Sex+Design with all rights reserved immediately upon its receipt.
